EARTH-ROVER ROBOTICS COMPETITION

Creating new robotics education opportunities for youth.  This international robotics education and design competition will be held in Kishinev in the Republic of Moldova. It will be coordinated by university professors and involve high school and university student teams from countries throughout the region.

Youth will learn and apply skills in robotics, computer science, mechanical and electrical engineering. They will also develop valuable life skills and experience in planning, development, teamwork and leadership. Description:

EARTH-ROVER ROBOTICS COMPETITION creating new robotics education opportunities for youth.

This international robotics education and design competition will be held in Kishinev in the Republic of Moldova. It will be coordinated by university professors and involve high school and university student teams from countries throughout the region. Youth will learn and apply skills in robotics, computer science, mechanical and electrical engineering. They will also develop valuable life skills and experience in planning, development, teamwork and leadership.

Coordinators:

Coordinators will include experts in the fields of computer science and robotics from the Technical University in the Republic or Moldova and the University of Suceava in Romania.

Other Management Support:

The program launch will occur at the Technical University of Moldova in Kishinev, Moldova. Following the final team competition, selected teams and equipment will be transported to the UNESCO Summer Academy of Learning in Capidava, Romania for educational programs and demonstrations. Following this, all resources and benefits will be extended into schools and universities throughout the region under the supervision of university professors and the World Genesis Foundation management team.

Project Goals and Objectives

Short-term:

1. To provided needed equipment for robotics education to schools in Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria.
2. To host an international robotics competition with participating schools to measurably advance their learning, skills and experience in many areas.
3. Though the process to develop academic skills and experience of students in computer programming, robotics, mechanical engineering and computer science.
4. Though the process to develop important life skills of students including teamwork, planning, critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills.

Long-term:

1. All program equipment and educational materials will be managed and transported by teachers and used in future educational programs both in schools and universities throughout the region, creating long-lasting educational opportunity.
2. To establish a schedule of robotics education programs for elementary school students to be coordinated by the high-school and university students and teachers competing in the Earth-Rover Robotics Competition.
