The World Genesis Foundation announced today it's plans to launch a new international robotics program and competition benefiting youth at seven universities and communities in the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.

"Earth-Rover is a new international robotics competition and program that will operate over almost an entire year and benefit thousands of youth," said David Lewis Anderson, President and CEO of the World Genesis Foundation. "The theme, towards remote exploration robots, will challenge the youth to use the equipment we provide to build fully functional remote exploration robots. The project is being designed to create new academic educational opportunities for students in computer science, robotics, and electrical and mechanical engineering. It will also challenge the youth to develop and demonstrate important "life skills" including planning, project management, presentation, communications, leadership and teamwork. The World Genesis Foundation is proud to be developing this program together in partnership with the Technical University of Moldova, the University of Suceava, and the Cygnus Scientific Society of Romania who represent the management team of Earth-Rover 2011."

As a first step the Earth-Rover Management Team has begun designing the robot competition kits and official project website. In parallel the team has also begun communicating with organizations throughout the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine to identify participants in the year-long project which is planned to be launched in March of 2011.

The World Genesis Foundation was founded on November 30, 1999 and is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to a vision and mission to "leave no child without hope for the future." Headquartered in Santa Fe, NM USA, the foundation supports activities worldwide to create educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for youth with a special focus in areas of the world where these opportunities are limited or do not exist.
